The Engineer

he three articles published in The Engineer in 1866, soon after the Ross Winans was launched, are the best source of detailed information on the yacht.  I have scanned the articles, converted the images to text, and provide them here as PDF files.  The facsimiles retain as much of the appearance and formatting of the originals as possible, including one or two typographical errors.  The originals are large-format documents and the facsimiles should be printed to tabloid size (11x17) paper without rescaling, although letter-sized copies will be legible.   The first two articles are a little more than one tabloid page long.  The third is two full pages plus a third page of figures and the PDF file is subsequently much larger.

(Note: Internet Explorer 7 may have trouble displaying PDFs.  I have successfully addressed this by configuring Adobe Reader NOT to open PDFs in browser.)

I have proof-read the documents several times but I'm sure some text conversion errors remain.
